Swami Vivekananda was an Indian Hindu monk, philosopher, and spiritual leader who became a key figure in introducing Indian philosophies like Vedanta and Yoga to the West. He was born Narendranath Datta in 1863, was a chief disciple of the mystic Ramakrishna, and is revered for his work in spreading interfaith awareness and his extensive social service. 

               During his stay in Belagavi in October 1892, Swami Vivekananda visited the Kapileshwar Temple. He arrived in the city on October 16, 1892, as an itinerant monk and remained for 12 days, during which he was a guest at two different houses and visited several local sites.
